AkiDwA, the migrant women’s network in Ireland, is hosting a roundtable discussion with Migrant men on the 11th of September at the European Parliament Information Offices ( 43 Molesworth Street, Dublin 2).
AkiDwA was founded in August 2001 and has been working on gender based violence as part on its main objectives. We have been supporting migrant women experiencing domestic violence and also working on the area of female genital mutilation (FGM). The organisation and other partners have made tremendous efforts in working on both these areas.
Our work has been mainly with women and through our case work a need to engage with men has been identified. We feel that there is a need to engage with men on such crucial issues and thus we came about the idea to engage with men and get them to participate in this discussion, learn more about our work as well as helping inform on our work. This discussion will also look into possible ideas and suggestion to address Gender Based Violence as an issue against Human Right.
I am also appealing to you to invite other migrant men to attend this event.
This discussion will take a maximum of 2hrs. We hope to start at 10am and finish at 12pm. If you are interested in attending, please RSVP by emailing
