Gender Based Violence

AkiDwA plays a key role in addressing areas of concern to migrant women, that of Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Employment and Gender Discrimination. In Addition AkiDwA engages in collaborative work with key NGOs and Government stakeholders, building in a gender perspective

The organisation is a recognised authority in gender-based violence work for migrant women in Ireland. GBV covers a broad area however AkiDwA focuses on Female Genital Mutilation and domestic violence. The organisation is working to improve health care supports and services to women who have undergone FGM in their country of origin and also at policy and legislation in regards to FGM. AkiDwA provides support, guidance and training to migrant women experiencing domestic violence and to service providers.
